Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, one stenciled "HYMAN H. JOWARSKY. / WHOLESALE LIQUOR / DEALER. / NO. 361 5TH. AVE / PITTSBURGH. PA," the other stenciled "CHAS. - HOOK. / WHOLESALE / LIQUOR DEALER. / 4302 BUTLER ST. / PITTSBURGH. PA." Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Residue to surface, handle, and spout. A tight spider crack to reverse/side of jug. Hook jug in very nice condition with a small, faintly-colored base chip and minor handle wear. H (of smaller jug) 9 3/4".
