Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled advertising, "D.S. OSGOOD. / WHOLESALE LIQUOR / DEALER. / PENNSYLVANIA RYE / WHISKIES. WINES & C. / 365 FIFTH AVE. / PITTSBURG / PA." Decorated above with a freehand "2" with flourishes, brushed between two wavy stripes. Additional freehand stripe at base. A salt drip to shoulder. A filled 1 1/2" chip to side of handle. A filled 1" base chip. Some painted black touch-up to freehand decoration, not affecting stenciling. H 13 3/4".
