Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with flared rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "??CHAFFEY & CO. / AGENTS. / 264 / LIBERTY ST / PITTS." Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with cobalt-script "2" flanked by dashes. Three flakes to bottom edge, mostly visible when jar is turned over, measuring 2 1/4", 2", and 3/4". Two tiny nicks to shoulder molding on reverse. A 2" spider line at base on side of jar. Some paint residue to inner rim for lid. Two minor paint spots to exterior, unrelated to any sort of restoration. H 12".
