Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Shield Decoration, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO Pa.," circa 1875, tapered jar with semi-squared "wax sealer" rim, featuring a stenciled design of a shield and banner bearing James Hamilton maker's stenciling. Provenance: From a fifty-year collection. Small chips to interior of rim. Very minor wear to inner wax sealer rim. A small piece of adhered clay to bottom edge. H 8 1/4".
