Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Handled Preserve Jar, attributed to Archibald McPherson, Belcher's Gap, DeKalb County, AL, circa 1865-1885, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, squared rim, and applied strap handles, the shoulder and base area embellished with incised wavy combing between two horizontal incised lines. Surface covered in a mottled green alkaline glaze. A jagged crack on one side, extending from rim to bottom edge. H 10 1/2".
