Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Cherries and Floral Decoration, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of cherries and tulip emanating from a horizontal stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Faintness to areas of decoration. Restoration to front, not touching decoration. Section of one handle restored. A small chip to opposite handle. Sideways L-shaped line at base on reverse, continuing a short distance onto underside.
