Scarce One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with short collar and tooled rim, decorated with a horizontal floral motif above the underscored inscription, "1 1/2," all applied over slip-coated clay. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Additionally impressed "1 1/2" below collar. A difficult-to-find form from this region. Excellent condition with some surface wear to area where collar meets body of pitcher.
