Rare Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Rose Decoration, Stenciled "MURTA & SONS / BEAVER / BEAVER CO. PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, the slip-coated surface featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "MURTA & SONS / BEAVER / BEAVER CO. PA.," surrounding a detailed, stenciled rose. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
