Rare Stoneware Pitcher with Impressed Floral Decoration, attributed to Jonathan Fenton, Boston, MA, late 18th century, ovoid pitcher with tooled shoulder and flared collar, decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted design of a flower. Interior with iron-oxide slip decoration. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional form for this maker. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Significant flakes to body, partially filled. Two spout chips. A 1 5/8" chip to interior of rim. A small piece of adhered clay above handle. H 9 3/4".
