Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD or Southeastern PA origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tall collar and applied lug handles, decorated on front and reverse with a wavy vine bearing flowers and graduated leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and dashes of cobalt underneath each handle. Hand-incised "3" under one handle. Two small, in-the-firing surface chips to one side. One side of jar slumped slightly during the firing. A small base chip and tiny base nick.
