Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Tulip Decoration, Stenciled "BOYERS, KNOTTS / PALATINE / W/ VA," circa 1875. Freehand straight and wavy stripe decoration above and below. Unusual large freehand tulip at right of maker's stenciling. An X-shaped surface line in underside, not visible on interior. A 1 3/4" glazed-over surface line at base on left side of jar, not visible on interior.
