Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with delicate freehand vining between straight and wavy stripes, above a cobalt-script "2" surrounded by four groups of dashes, underscored by additional stripes. A sealed 6" crack from rim to right side of jar. Otherwise excellent condition.
