Bellarmine Stoneware Jug, probably Frechen, Germany, 16th or 17th century, highly-ovoid jug with relief decoration of a smiling, bearded man's face above a stylized medallion. Surface dipped in iron slip and covered in a clear salt glaze. Restoration to spout including some restoration to top of relief face. Jug was broken into two pieces and reglued with coloring along crack. Minor base wear. H 8 3/8".
