Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO. PA", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling, freehand stripes and various stenciled designs, and stenciled "6" with flourishes at base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. An in-the-firing slump to right side and some minor surface wear. A few very minor chips to interior of rim. A faint diagonal X-shaped surface line to shoulder on far right side of jar's front, measuring 5" diagonally and not visible on the interior.
