Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on well-detailed stump atop a heavily-shrubbed ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Rim chips, the largest on reverse measuring 1 3/4". A short in-the-firing surface line at base on reverse, not visible on interior.
