Bellarmine Stoneware Jug, probably Frechen, Germany, 16th or 17th century, rotund jug with tooled spout, decorated with a relief design of a bearded man's face to the spout and a coat-of-arms featuring rampant lions to the body. Surface dipped in an iron-oxide wash and covered in a salt glaze. Jug is broken and partially restored, with cracks still visible on jug's left side. An in-the-firing chip and contact mark to handle. Small chips and wear to bottom edge. H 7 1/4".
