Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Ochre Floral Decoration, Stamped "L. NORTON & SON / BENNINGTON", VT origin, circa 1833-1841, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, slightly-flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed ochre floral design featuring a circular blossom. Exfoliation to underside. Cracks in underside, extending several inches up body of churn. Base chips. One rim chip. Minor wear to interior rim for lid. A 3" X-shaped surface line on reverse, not visible on interior.
