Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a large chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Excellent size to design and strong feather detail to bird. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Areas of light staining throughout. Two small rim chips. A faint 3" line from rim on reverse. A tight 5 1/2" Y-shaped line on underside, continuing 1 1/4" up front of crock.
