Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, applied lug handles, and flared, semi-squared rim, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A few shallow chips to interior of rim. Wear and small chips to inner rim for lid. A 2" in-the-firing line to interior of rim, not visible on exterior.
