Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Motifs, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, decorated with two elaborate stenciled foliate motifs, situated between freehand stripes. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A fairly minor, in-the-firing contact mark near base on front, and a second, minor in-the-firing contact mark to base on side of jar. H 8".
