Small-Sized Redware Jar with Elaborate Slip Decoration, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, squat-shaped, cylindrical jar with flared rim, the surface profusely-decorated with marbled streaks of yellow slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. A tight Y-shaped crack extending from rim to shoulder. Filled rim chips. Two raised pieces of glaze on top of rim. A sliver of glazed-over clay to midsection and a glazed-over 7/8" dent to shoulder. H 6".
