One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1830, highly-ovoid jar with footed base, rounded rim, and applied tab handles, decorated around its circumference with an elaborate brushed tulip and graduated leaf design, underscored by a wavy cobalt stripe. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year Maryland collection. A tight crack across underside becoming an approximately 4 3/4" tight spider crack emanating from base area. One handle chip.
