Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Western PA and Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, a two-gallon jar with cobalt stripe decoration and freehand "2" flanked by X's, attributed to Isaac Hewitt, Jr., Rices Landing, PA; paired with a one-gallon jar with cobalt swag and hanging floral decoration, Baltimore, MD origin. Western PA jar in as-made condition with some bloated spots to surface, one bloated spot to underside, and a few small in-the-firing pings. Baltimore jar with a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" in-the-firing flake to base, which is lightly glazed-over, and some small base chips.
