Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875-1880, one with freehand stripe decoration and cobalt script "2", inscribed "JAMES HAMILTON & CO. / MANUFACTURERS. / GREENSBORO. PA" in banner-shaped stenciling; paired with a jar featuring various freehand and stenciled decoration, including a stenciled rose at center, stenciled "T.F. REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. / PA.". Hamilton jar with a 5" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on side of jar, some fry to stenciled mark, minuscule chips to shoulder molding, and light surface wear. Reppert jar with wear or fry to stenciling, restorations to reverse and rim, a 1 1/4" in-the-firing chip to underside and a 1" Y-shaped surface line to underside.
