Scarce Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX.", Harrisburg, PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with flared collar accented with tooled lines, the front decorated with a brushed flower. Leaf-like decoration to spout. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Fry to cobalt. A 3 1/4" hairline to collar, beside a smaller T-shaped line to rim. A 1 1/4" Y-shaped line to base on reverse, extending 1 1/4" onto underside. Two spout chips. A faint, 2" horizontal line at base on front, extending 1" onto underside. A small in-the-firing surface chip / contact mark and small glazed-over stone ping, both near base on reverse. H 8 1/4".
