Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Stenciling, Stenciled "A.P. DONAGHHO. / PARKERSBURG / W. VA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, ribbed lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, featuring bold-faced A.P. Donaghho maker's stenciling between bands of foliate stenciling. Shoulder with stenciled "3" surrounded by a circle, flanked by pointed stenciling. Base with stenciled geometric band featuring clovers, commas, and X's. Glazed-over flaws to one handle. Small chips to ends of same handle. Chips to ends of opposite handle. A thin curving crack at base on side of jar, extending 3 1/4" onto underside. Two small chips to interior of rim.
