Rare One-Gallon Punxsutawney, PA Stoneware Advertising Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "IKE ROSENBERGER / PUNXSUTAWNEY / PA.", accented with stenciled flourishes. Reverse with the maker's stenciling, "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO. / PA.", also accented with stenciled flourishes. Scarce advertising. In addition, examples of Western PA stoneware with two-sided stenciling are considered rare. Very nice condition with two small rim chips on side of jar and a minor nick to shoulder molding.
