Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with long tail, perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Two in-the-firing iron pings on right side of jug, the larger at base, measuring 1 1/4". Shallow chipping to rim, some of which is glazed over.
