Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "T. HARRINGTON / LYONS", New York State, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a leafy branch. Slip-trailed "3" with scrolled end above. Slip-trailed cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A desirable Harrington motif. Significant restoration to surface, primarily on front and rim, including some touch-up to cobalt. A chip to one handle. A chip to inner rim, where a lid would rest. A glazed-over stone ping at base on side of jar.
