Rockingham-Glazed Hunt Scene Pitcher, Stamped "AMERICAN POTTERY CO. / SOUTH AMBOY, NJ", circa 1833-1850 with hound handle, the body decorated with a relief design of hounds overtaking a boar and a deer, the shoulder and collar featuring floral and grapevine motifs. Surface with mottled reddish-brown glaze on exterior and clear glaze over yellow clay on interior. Underside impressed with American Pottery Co. maker's mark. Very nice overall condition. Some small, very minor surface lines on interior, not visible on exterior and likely in-the-firing. A small base chip. Some light wear to high points of relief design. H 8 3/4".
