Exceptional Lidded Rockingham Grapevine Pitcher, Stamped "SWAN HILL / POTTERY / SOUTH AMBOY", Edward Hanks and Charles Fish, South Amboy, NJ, circa 1850-1852, molded pitcher with elaborate relief grapevine motif, perforated ice lip, and bifurcated branch-form handle, the surface colorfully-decorated with a streaked reddish-brown glaze with light-blue accents throughout. Underside impressed with Swan Hill Pottery maker's mark, incorporating an embossed swan into the logo. Handle includes hand-incised bark. Includes original glazed lid with relief grapevine pattern stemming from an open twig-form handle. Pitcher in excellent condition. Lid broken into pieces and reglued. H (including lid) 11 1/2".
