Exceptional Rockingham Presentation Hunt Scene Pitcher with Applied Frog, Inscribed "MOSES H HUNTER," attributed to John L. Rue & Co., South Amboy, NJ, circa 1860-1871, molded pitcher with twig-form handle and relief decoration of hunters on horseback with hounds chasing a stag. Front inscribed with the name, "MOSES H HUNTER," in white letters, overlain with green. Surface beautifully-decorated in blue, green, and brown over a cream ground. White-glazed interior includes a molded frog at base, decorated in blue and brown. Featuring a rare and colorful glaze scheme, this example is the finest South Amboy presentation pitcher that we have ever offered. Excellent condition with a small spout chip and a minor chip to top of handle. H 9 1/4".
