Rare Rockingham-Glazed Fire Engine Pitcher, Stamped "A. CADMUS / CONGRESS POTTERY / SOUTH AMBOY / N.J," Abraham Cadmus, South Amboy, NJ, circa 1849-1854, with hound handle, featuring a relief design of firemen with fire engine around the body and a grape vine motif around the collar. Surface covered in a mottled reddish-brown glaze over a cream ground. Impressed with Abraham Cadmus maker's mark on underside. An approximately 3 1/2" x 1 3/4" restored section to side of rim. Other minor wear. H 9 1/4".
