Scarce One-Quart Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Star and Stripe Decorations, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and rounded wax sealer rim, the front decorated with three large, diagonally-stenciled stars between two freehand stripes. Excellent size and decoration. Excellent overall condition with some minor nicks on interior of rim and a faint semi-circular line on underside, probably in the firing. H 6 3/8".
