One-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Philadelphia, PA origin, circa 1850, cylindrical form with heavily-tooled sholder, applied lug handles, and squared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed stem bearing four flower blossoms interspersed with graduated leaves. Chain link decoration under each handle. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1" flake to exterior of rim. Otherwise excellent condition with a small in-the-firing contact mark to top of rim, a small chip to interior of rim, and a minor in-the-firing nick to interior of rim.
