One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Clover Decoration and Impressed Star, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with semi-squared rim, decorated with a two-stemmed clover plant on the front and reverse. Shoulder impressed with a star, believed to be a specific journeyman potter's stamp, possibly used to create a count of his output at the end of each day. A restored horizontal hairline at base. A restored rim chip. A minor in-the-firing base chip.
