Three-Gallon Wheeling, WV Stoneware Advertising Jar, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring the stenciled cobalt inscription "ADOLPH BOTT. / FANCY & STAPLE / GROCERIES. 2631 / GOFF STREET. / WHEELING. W. VA.". Freehand cobalt stripes throughout. Freehand "3" flanked by flourishes at base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Jar is slightly out-of-round with one handle chip and grease leaching through the interior onto the exterior surface.
