Unusual One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Cherries Decoration, Stamped "W A MACQUOID / POTTERY WORKS / LITTLE W 12TH ST NY," circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of three cherries hanging from a leafy stem. Cobalt highlight to capacity mark. A 4 1/4" crack from rim on reverse. A 5/8" line in rim. Small chips to interior of rim. Small spots of exfoliation to surface near base. Small contact mark to right of decoration. A small base chip on reverse.
