Rare Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Water Cooler, Inscribed "WATER COOLER," New Jersey origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical cooler with tooled shoulder, squared rim, applied lug handles, and circular bung hole, the front featuring the rare slip-trailed inscription "3 G. / WATER COOLER" within a wreath with bow. Slip-trailed wavy line decoration surrounding the bung hole. Additionally inscribed with a large "3." on reverse. Y-shaped hairline on underside, connecting to a long, tight horizontal crack at base. Three chips on interior of rim. A faint 1 1/4" surface line to rim on reverse.
