Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Man-in-the-Moon Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large brushed design of a face with long nose surrounded by a crescent-shaped stem with leaves. A nicely-executed, large-sized rendition of this popular Cowden & Wilcox design. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a spot of fry visible on the eye and tip of swag above head.
