Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Sunflower Decoration, Stamped "WM. MOYER," Harrisburg, PA, circa 1858, cylindrical jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a finely-brushed design of a sunflower plant with large, nicely-detailed center and sawtoothed leaves. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Includes 20th century Diebboll lid. Excellent decoration, size, and color. Excellent condition with a few small firing flaws, a small chip on interior of rim, and some minor chips on inner rim for lid.
