Rare Five-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Lid, Stamped "PITTMAN & BRO / ROCK MILLS, ALA.," circa 1880-1920, cylindrical, salt-glazed jar flared rim, and open strap handles. Impressed with maker's mark at shoulder, with a five-gallon capacity mark to the right. Includes original salt-glazed stoneware lid. Wonderful form and rare Southern maker. Jar in excellent condition with a few minor rim nicks. Lid with small glazed-over chip to knob and minor edge wear.
