Rare Six-Gallon Glazed Redware Cream Jar, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled midsection, pronounced rounded rim, and applied lug handles, the interior and exterior covered in a lead glaze over a colorful pale bluish-green ground with orange spotting. Incised "6" below rim. Exceptional, impressive large size. Heavy glaze wear to interior and exterior of rim. Additional glaze loss to interior. Two chips and some exfoliation to one handle. Lighter glaze wear to bottom edge of opposite handle. Sporadic minor spots of wear to exterior surface. 7/8" glaze flake under one handle.
