Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid pail with tubular pouring spout, handle on reverse, and applied clay ears with attached wire-and-wood bail handle. Large brushed tulip decoration on reverse. Brushed wreath decoration around base of spout. Additional cobalt highlights to ears and handles. Includes original tin covers. Batter pail survives in rarely-found, excellent condition with a small base nick. Larger tin covering with some separation at joints.
