Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral and Stenciled Shield Decorations, Stenciled "T.F. REPPERT / SUCCESSOR TO / J. HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO. PA," circa 1880, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with an unusual design of a large spotted fuchsia blossom, including graduated swags emanating from the blossom and a series of vertical swags at the blossom's rear. Midsection with desirable Reppert "SUCCESSOR TO" stenciling within a shield, flanked by small stenciled flowers. Base with stenciled "2," flanked by stenciled flourishes, above a freehand cobalt stripe. Tight horizontal line at base. Horizontal spider line to right side of shoulder. Very faint horizontal line to left side of shoulder. Minor spout wear, including a small nick on reverse of spout.
