Two Pieces of Stoneware with Bird Decorations, New England origin, third quarter 19th century, a two-gallon jar with pheasant-on-stump decoration, stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT;" paired with a two-gallon jug with cobalt bird on branch, stamped "J.S. TAFT & COMPANY / KEENE, N.H.". Norton jar with significant cracks and exfoliation, as well as a few chips on interior of rim. Jug missing handle.
