Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Double Bird Decoration, Stamped "J.S. TAFT & COMPANY / KEENE, NH," circa 1875, straight-sided crock with rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with two large cobalt crossed birds with crest and long tails, perched on two branches that meet at the base. Highly desirable design. Y-shaped crack under one handle, extending onto underside. Approximately 10 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. Small chips on interior of rim. H 12".
