Scarce Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "EXCELSIOR WORKS / Isaac Hewitt, Jr. / RICES LANDING, PA.," circa 1875, narrow cylindrical jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and "wax sealer" rim, featuring diagonal Isaac Hewitt, Jr. maker's stenciling along with a stenciled flourish. Excellent condition. Some small chips to inner wax sealer rim. 5/8" hairline in rim. H 9".
