Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Fine Freehand Decoration, attributed to Isaac Hewitt, Jr., Rices Landing, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with lug handles, decorated with a large tulip vine design, stripes, and a stenciled "4" flanked by X's. Provenance: From a thirty-five year Western PA collection. Meandering crack under on handle, extending partway onto front. Salt drip at base, and others on underside. H 15 1/2".
