Rare Westerwald Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborately-Carved Body, German origin, circa 1750, ovoid-bodied pitcher with rounded foot and tall narrow collar, the entire body decorated with an incised diamond-shaped pattern. Rim decorated with impressed rosettes. Base molding decorated around with a small, highly unusual impressed bird design. 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" hairlines extending from rim on interior, not visible on exterior. In-the-firing separation in lower handle terminal. H 9 1/2".
